Reply Page 1 of 2 1 2. Hi, new here with a question. Im getting a code po I know this is tranny related, but can someone please give me a more in depth idea on if this is something I can fix myself. We bought extended warrenty, but Im afraid it might be up. Any help and advice greatly appreciated, as I was layed off on Christmas eve, and wife is out of work for a bit, so if this is something I can fix myself, would be a blessing.

Thank you Doug in Pa. Ford V8 engine swap User Profile. The P trans code is just the TCM commanded the check engine light on,no specific problem if by itself.

A better scanner maybe needed to actually pull the other trans code, the other code maybe not a issue right now and is not showing due to being a history code right now. Im not really sure what you mean by history code though. I just bought the code reader and really not very familiar with it. Can an average repairmen do the more in depth scan you are talking about, or will i have to take it to the dealer? Also, I turned off the engine light after scanning, that would have to be back on before someone could read it again, is that right?

I thank you again for getting back so quickly. First sorry about you getting laid off on Christmas Eve. Someone is going to hell for that one. Some codes are stored and will not erase when you turn off the check engine light with the scanner. Below is a link I found that goes a bit more in depth about the Po code. Strange that no other code accompanied it. Actually there was another code. This wouldnt have anything to do with the other would it.

You guys are great, very helpfull. The two codes should have no connection with each other that I know of. How is it running? What you can do to clear all the codes is disconnect the negative battery cable for five minutes and see if they come back. Speaking of batteries, is yours in good shape. When the battery starts to go on these KJs all sorts of funky things happen before the battery finally dies. I know I am kind of grasping at straws here.

Perhaps others with more knowledge can help out. Actually, I did clear the codes so the light is off, for now. The jeep does seem to shift odd at times. Seems like it should have more power going up hills then it does, before it decides to shift. And, I told wify I think we will be due for a battery, because the colder days here, around 10 in the morning, the vehicle was quite sluggish but did start.

Also, one more if you dont mind, Ive been trying to get a handle on this since I hooked up my pocketscan, and just where, if it turns out to be that, is the power control module?

Is it something I can replace? I also have an '06 and replaced my battery last summer. I would check the voltage on the battery. It should be a little over 12 when the Jeep is not running and between The PCM is located on the left side of the Jeep with battery and fuses. You could replace it but I know they aren't cheap. You would also need to take it to the dealer to have it programmed according to your VIN.

Although vague the Po is transmission related. Between the code and your shifting comment, I would start by taking a look and probably changing your transmission fluid and filter as well as the fluid in the transfer case if that hasn't been done for awhile. Oxygen sensors Po will pop a code for a lot of different reason and it could be a fluke.
